It appears that no one is hanging out anymore.

Well, I know a lot of you readers hangout a lot, but a growing number of Gen Z/Milennials are not hanging out anymore as staying inside is gaining more and more popularity.

I love being cozy as much as the next guy, but hanging out is a necessary function of a happy and healthy society.

So, the big questions is why?

A lot of people I’ve asked are pointing to rising costs of hanging out as well as being way too tired after work and such to want to hang. The ROI on hanging out just isn’t there anymore as people realize FaceTime, Netflix, and gaming are far cheaper and way less effort.

Third places (anywhere you hangout outside of work and home) are also becoming more inaccessible to people as wallets become emptier. $7.00 for a coffee, or $9.00 for a beer just aren’t appealing.

Because of this — I think we need to pay more attention to happy hours, deals, and overall just finding hangout options that make sense. The fun ROI must come back, so I am currently trying to make a part of this newsletter a little weekly update with fun deals of all types for people to go and enjoy ideally with the homies.

Yes this feels like I’m making a niche groupon, but I do think it’d be nice to know when and where the happenings are happening. ACOTH has always had a focus on bringing the community together, and I think amplifying hanging out is a great way to do it.
